Masuleh - ماسوله

Masuleh is one of the most famous villages in Iran. It is about 400km northwest of Tehran in Gilan province.

Masuleh is known for its unique architecture. Because of the steep mountain where the village is built on, in some parts of the village the streets are on the rooftops of the houses below.

We rented a room with the locals and spent 3 nights in Masuleh.

We also visited Rudkhan Castle while were in the neighborhood.

We were pleasantly surprised by a few hundred female Red Crescent volunteers that suddenly showed up in Masuleh.

This is as far as cars can go. You do not find any motorized vehicles on the other side of the river in Masuleh.
